French

At All Saints', we aim to INCLUDE, INVOLVE and INSPIRE. Children have a natural love for learning - that includes new languages. Although we do not teach specific language lessons (French) until KS2, the learning of new words and phrases of any language is taught throughout the whole school- in many ways- from special language assemblies and stories, lessons throughout the school about religions and traditions such as Hannukah, Diwali and Chinese New Year, to ways of answering the register in French, Italian, Polish and Moldovan, to name a few!
In KS2, children are given regular tuition from a teacher or HLTA. We teach from a MAT-wide language programme, written by T Davies, called Languages in Primaries. This is a 4 year rolling program, where all 4 year groups from Year 2-6 learn the same topic at the same time, with a new topic being taught each term.

Work is extended and differentiated in many ways, to suit all year groups using 3 different structured stages. It is currently being written as we speak, so is completely up to date!
